The Lord Works and Weaves - Jeremiah 10:23-24

I know, Lord , that a person’s way of life is not his own; no one who walks determines his own steps. Discipline me, Lord , but with justice — not in your anger, or you will reduce me to nothing. Jeremiah 10:23-24

The Fabric of His Will

I am the Lord's. He has delivered me from a life of bondage to sin.

I don't determine my own way.

So who am I; what am I? What's my purpose?

I know it's not that God is my puppet master, simply pulling my strings. No, He has given me a will and desires. I make decisions and He holds me accountable to those decisions.

I decide to pray. Yet, this weaves into the fabric of His holy will. I do the good work that He has laid out before me. And it works perfectly into his plan.

But also this. I sin. I am tested. I fail. This too works perfectly into the tapestry of his will. He disciplines me, perfecting me. And His power is displayed.

The Desire to Walk in the Spirit Grows

There is the huge overarching work that He is doing. Everything I do works into it. I can be a willing participant, and be blessed. Or I can do what I sinfully want and be disciplined.

The Lord works. He weaves. He declares. He creates. He makes music in the heavens.

And everything I do is part of that. Even my sin.

He disciplines His children with love.

And as I walk in the Spirit, my desire to walk in the Spirit grows. As I walk in the light, I want more light.

When I walk in the flesh, it is hard to walk in the Spirit. It's a fight. And He determines my steps.

Today, I want to willingly, gladly, walk in His will, not against Him. I want to surrender. I am not God. I serve Him. He cares about that. I matter to Him personally.

Lord, help me do your will. Fill me with good desires and fulfill them. May I consciously work in faith and be blessed as I watch you fulfill it. May I walk with humble power. Not in pride and anger. Lord, may you be glorified in me, today. Blessed be the Name of the Lord.
