Transformed - Romans 12:2

Image
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God.  Romans 12:2 BSB Daily Renewal I am a believer. Though I am tempted to be worldly, I am in fact not. Do I fail at that. Yes. Yes. But the Lord, encourages me to know that I don't need to be shaped by the world. His way is for me to renew my mind. I know that renewal of my mind must happen daily. But, I so want to be one and done. I prayed. I'm done. I sought the Lord; He answered me. Done. That is not the way it works. Is life one and done with my kids or my wife. No. It's daily. For years, decades. Maybe half a century or more. No one and done. It's a daily renewal of my mind. How can I do that? Well, I can read scripture. I can enjoy fellowship with believers. I can read books written by godly men. I can listen to sermons preached by godly pastors. I'm living in a time of access the world

Be Renewed - Ephesians 4:24-26

…take off your former way of life, the old self that is corrupted by deceitful desires, to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, and to put on the new self, the one created according to God’s likeness in righteousness and purity of the truth. Ephesians 4:22-24 I Can Be Renewed in My Mind! The Holy Spirit works on me, changing me to be like Jesus. He is making me new. Believers need reminders that this is happening. I do. And I love being reminded of it   I like how the Living Translation says to “throw off” my old sinful self. Throw. Be active in this. Work it out. Throw that junk off. Why? It’s corrupted by lust. Evil desires. That’s flesh. Romans 8 talks about believers setting our minds on the things of the Spirit versus the things of the flesh. I must work at this. And to make matters worse, the verse says I can deceive myself. I must throw off my sinful nature which is corrupted by lust and deception. This is serious, right? I must pay attention. If I don’t, I can find mysel

The Old Way of Life - Ephesians 4:21-24

Surely you heard of Him and were taught in Him--in keeping with the truth that is in Jesus-- to put off your former way of life, your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be renewed in the spirit of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness. Ephesians 4:21-24 Being Sanctified I am a believer. So, I am putting off my former way of life, my old self (today). I know when I was saved, I put off the former self, I was renewed. I was justified. An act done by God in the courts of heaven. Amen. Yet, I am still being sanctified. And the Holy Spirit does that in me too. It is too much. I am drawn back to my old self. But He is there gently calling me to put off, put off, put off. Daily. My "adamnish" doesn't just vanish. Jesus is scrubbing, washing, cleansing. But this verse tells me what it looks like from my end. He tells me to put off my former way of life. And I am a believer. If he (He) tells
