Jesus Is - Acts 4:12

There is no salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12

Time and Time Again

Jesus is the only way to salvation. Just Jesus. That's it.

So what is this salvation?

It is being washed by Jesus, being made acceptable to the Father. It's preparing me for heaven. It's giving me what I need to prevail over sin and darkness in my life. It makes me part of His people, His church.

I need not go looking for salvation answers elsewhere. There is no other name...

Of course that does not mean that I don't listen to other believers. They have pointed me back to Jesus time and time again.

And I can and do learn important things from non-believers. Even things about how to think.

Only Jesus

It's good men who told me that I mattered to God when I had trouble believing it. They told me that He would heal me in this work of recovery and they told me how He had worked in their lives.

They told me that I needed to turn my life over to His care. They said it over and over. And I needed to hear it over and over.

Jesus saves. Only Jesus saves. Isaiah says, "All of us like sheep have gone astray; each of us has turned to his own way, but the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all." This is what I believe.

Lord, may I seek you keenly. The scripture says that no one seeks you. You must open the door. Lord, throw the door wide open that I may seek you and only you. Today and all the days of my life. Blessed be the Name of the Lord.

Walking Worthy - Ephesians 4:1-3 (a prayer devotion)

As a prisoner in the Lord, then, I urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling you have received: with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, and with diligence to preserve the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.  Ephesians 4:1-3 (ESV) He asks me to be humble, that means there IS a pathway to humility for me. In the passage, He asks me to be gentle. That means that I CAN be gentle.  Lord, please give me the grace to behave in the way you are asking. You say I can do it. I KNOW that I can't do it through a flesh-push. I can only do it by being Spirit controlled. By being filled with the Spirit. May my life as a believer be exemplified by these things. May you rule in my heart. May you give me wisdom when I feel that I have none. When I have nothing left. May I depend upon You. Lord, I ask for your grace upon today. Blessed be the name of the Lord. You Caused - Psalm 71:20-22

You caused me to experience many troubles and misfortunes, but you will revive me again. You will bring me up again, even from the depths of the earth. You will increase my honor and comfort me once again. Therefore, I will praise you with a harp for your faithfulness, my God; I will sing to you with a lyre, Holy One of Israel. Psalm 71:20-22 This verse makes my head spin around and say, “Wait, what did that just say?” The Psalmist, talking to God says, “You caused me to experience many troubles and misfortunes.” God caused. Not the devil. In my imagination, when I hurt, I can wrongly think that God is far away from me. I can think He wishes I wasn’t going through it. That’s not what the verse says. God causes my troubles and misfortune. That’s heavy.  And of course He loves me. How can I get those ideas to synch together? Here’s the question: Why would a loving God do such a thing?
